BIO

Thank you Lambeth and surrounding Community

The Lambeth & Community Harvest Festival is alive and well!

This year the Lambeth and Community Harvest Festival, referred to as the Lambeth Harvestfest, will celebrate 31 years of existence September 10 - 13, 2009.

Each year a Committee of dedicated volunteers, in the interest of preserving the event itself and the Community spirit and identity and a sense of unity, puts on this great weekend of fun and celebration.  The Lambeth Harvestfest is completely planned and presented by Volunteers from the Community.  Most notably, this year is the Board made up of two veterans and three new members, consisting of, returning President, Rick Pettit and the Treasurer, new to the role but not the Board, Bev Grundy.  New Board members are, Vice President, Leigh Ann Jackson, Secretary, Mark Rowland and, Director, Wendy Vanderwerff.

Despite some financial shortfalls from 2008 the festival will start off with a very healthy bank balance with the help from the City of London grant of over $7,000.  Also new to the Harvestfest is a grant from the Ministry of Tourism of Ontario’s Celebrate Ontario program, a grant of $7,500.  This “seed” money will allow the festival to deal with some increased running costs and enhance the event by adding some new events.

New to the line-up, the Miss Teen Harvestfest, a Horseshow Tournament, a Craft Sale and a Nostalgia Baseball Game to celebrate Lambeth’s Bi-Centennial, which will be the theme of this year’s parade.  Of course, the weekend includes the usual baseball tournament, dances, church service, beef barbecue and fireworks.  Not to forget the live entertainment, the returning are the Mammals to the beer tent Friday night and Doug Varty performs at the dance with Denise Pelley, Jenn Marino and the Combination with the Combo Horns, a 10-piece act!  New additions are the Upfront Band and Geoff Masse Band on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, The Comos at the BBQ and Paul Langille will open the at the fireworks.

The Lambeth & Community Harvest Festival has a new phone line this year.  Someone from the Committee can be reached at: 519-614-5080 and leave a message.
